The authorities of the Sverdlovsk region, as part of expanding cooperation with India, intend to expand partnership in the field of IT and pharmacology. This was stated by Deputy Governor Vasily Kozlov after a meeting with the new Consul General of India in Yekaterinburg, Debabrata Chattopadhyay.

«In childhood, we always perceived India as a country where happy people live who strive to be friends with us. Many years have passed, but we in the Urals perceive India as a country that will cooperate with us for many years. The decision to open a Consulate General is a step in this direction. We discussed the need to intensify in the field of education, tourism and culture. In addition to culture and education, we would like to discuss [with Indian partners] cooperation in the IT sphere, new projects in the field of pharmaceuticals and offer all our developments and all equipment from our enterprises,» — said the deputy governor.

In his opinion, the opening of the Indian Consulate General in Yekaterinburg will strengthen the industry of the two countries. First of all, through the country’s partnership with the Sverdlovsk region, Kozlov believes.
